Learning a language can be very exciting. You might want to learn Spanish for fun or have to for work or travel. Either way, you still need to learn Spanish and need to find the best way to do that.
The four best ways to learn to speak Spanish are by reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Yes, you will need to learn first, grammar and vocabulary, but ultimately, it’s the practice that you need to do the most and that will help you the most.
First, buy a good grammar textbook with lots of exercises and a book of vocabulary. You will also need a good dictionary and an optional phrase book. If you get a Spanish channel, that will be great. Get some articles in Spanish or Spanish books, as well.
Next, decide how much time you can devote to studying Spanish everyday. On the first day, spend half of the time you will spend studying Spanish by studying a vocabulary lesson and doing some exercises. Spend the second half by reading aloud any Spanish text you have and translating it as you go.
On the next day, spend the first 1/3 of your study time studying vocabulary terms. Pick just a few words and master them. Spend the second 1/3 writing them out and trying to construct sentences with them the best you can. As you go on, this will get easier. Spend the last 1/3 of your time watching Spanish speaking television or a DVD on the Spanish track.
Keep rotating this schedule. Tweak it as necessary until you know you can stick with it. To keep up your motivation, subscribe to the blog Learn lots of languages for continuous information and inspiration. Stick with it and you will be learning Spanish in no time at all!
