A new year, 2008, and that means new, different, intentions. People make personal resolutions throughout the year. Some save them for the new year.
Turn your attention to business resolutions. The key is to make attainable business resolutions.
"Explain whatcha mean by attainable business resolutions." You looked at the sentence, again.
Discard old, unprofitable, services, and products. It's easy to get comfortable with obsolete equipment, products that have out-lived their business life, and services very few ask for.
If it isn't profitable, you're not breaking even, why provide the service, or have the line? It will cost you more, in the long run, to keep.
Invest, make business resolutions, to do better, and take your business to new heights.
Ask yourself some questions. Is it worth it to, settle, continue with poor performance until you're out of business, or lose money unnecessarily? Should you add a product line, or service? What do you have to gain next year, five years from now on your present course? Would change bring new customers?
Look at every part of the business. Yes, employees, too.
Are you getting complaints that a certain employee isn't handling customers well? Apply business resolutions. Talk to him/her. Determine where he/she would be more productive. Most likely, he/she prefers a different position.
If you have a relative working for you, make clear what his/ her job description entails. He/she should not come to you about an employee he/she thinks should be fired.
In other words, business resolutions assure everyone knows their roles, and respects boundaries.
Use business resolutions to move out old, unprofitable lines, products, low-producing employees, obsolete equipment, and start to prosper.
