Writing your own holiday cards can be a nice personal touch during the holidays. People will enjoy reading your words and knowing how you feel about them in such a personal and loving way. We all live in such a hurried, rushed lifestyle that writing in your own words will be a refreshing touch.
I started writing handwritten, personal notes to people about a year ago. With the advent of email I had lost the art of writing to people to express my thanks and gratitude for what they had done or how I felt about them. The reaction from my friends and family was overwhelming. They had not received personal cards and letters for so long that they were thrilled when I made such a small but sincere gesture.
Give it a try when you need to send a thank you card or a note to someone. Instead of just typing a quick, often misspelled, email, try writing out a handwritten note instead. You will be amazed at how good you will feel and what it will mean to the other person.
I have letters and cards that I have saved for years. They are from my close friends and family and I treasure them like photographs. Some of the people are no longer alive, so their personal note or card is irreplaceable to me now. Go back to the days before computers and email and see what a difference it makes in your life. You will feel better and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have brightened someone else's day in a special way.
